Moon Dong-ju is warming up for the Hangzhou Asian Games baseball team.
Hanwha Eagles right-hander Moon Dong-ju pitched two innings of two-hit ball against LG in the second-team Futures League at Seosan Stadium on Wednesday, striking out four and walking none. He smiled as he struck out four consecutive batters, getting the ‘K’ against Kim Sung-jin and Ham Chang-gun in the first inning and Jeon Jun-ho and Kang Min-gyun in the second.
His total pitch count was 29. Fastballs were 10, with a top velocity of 152 kilometers per hour and an average velocity of 150. He followed with a curve (eight), slider (five), changeup (three) and cutter (three). Hanwha went on to defeat LG 21-4.
Hanwha manager Choi Won-ho said, “Moon Dong-ju will recover for four days to adjust his condition. “He will pitch one more simple game on the 15th,” Choi said. “Then he will pitch on the 17th (against the Futures Goyang) and throw three innings and 40-50 pitches. The national team also has a schedule of practice games. I think my physical condition will be fine.”
Moon is set to make his first senior national team debut. He has been on a steady growth curve in the professional ranks. The Gwangju Gwangyang High School product was Hanwha’s first-round pick last year. After a middling start, he showed his potential in the second half of the season. In 13 games (four starts) and 28⅔ innings pitched, he went 1-3 with a 2.65 ERA.소닉카지노
This year, he became a full-fledged starter. In his first start of the season, on April 6, he tossed five scoreless innings to pick up the win against Samsung Electronics. He followed that up with seven quality starts (six innings or more and three earned runs or less). On June 24 against NC Jeonseo, he pitched eight innings with seven strikeouts and no walks, the most innings in a single game. In total, he went 8-8 with a 3.72 ERA in 23 games and 118⅔ innings pitched.
Hanwha has limited Moon to 120 innings pitched this season to manage and protect the second-year pro. Moon wrapped up the regular season on March 3 against the LG Electronics (3 runs in 4⅓ innings). As per the club’s plan, he was removed from the roster on May 5.
He has been working out with the second-team Future Team. Played catch over the past week. Threw 20 pitches on the 11th. Threw a complete game on the 12th. He is preparing to join the national team smoothly.
The national team will convene at the Gocheok Dome in Seoul on March 23 for their first training session. After that, the team will play practice games and depart for Hangzhou on the 28th.
